Back from tour, avoiding chocolat!
-
April 7, 2012
Yes well it's hard when you have to strip down to your underwear on stage infront of hundreds of audience members. There must be some control over the chocolate eating situation. What is tricky is when easter falls a week before a show, how rude I hear you say!! Indeed I do agree.
However that's show biz kids!!!!
Taking a few days to relax after the excitement of my first Tassie Tour, warming up to next week at The Peacock Theatre....yummy yummy theatre, can't wait!!!

Announcing the Tasmanian State-wide Tour of
BLITZ
One woman’s wartime in song, dance and story.
NAME OF ARTIST: SiSi
DIRECTOR: NAOMI EDWARDS
WRITER: SiSi
BLITZ – is one Woman’s wartime
in song, dance and story.
How do you find the joy in a world gone mad?
SiSi uses the 2nd World War to ask and answer this question. Using well known popular musical hits, including “All That Jazz”, The Lady is a Tramp” and Cabaret”, SiSi sings and dances her way through the Blitz.
SiSi’s played lead roles in musicals on London’s West End and her background in cabaret is evident as she brings to life a young Liverpudlian’s journey through love, loss, motherhood and work in a time of danger and stress.
Blitz is an intimate story told by ‘Joanne Arnold’, Liverpudlian turned cabaret singer; to a war-time audience together in a bunker during an air-raid. Using fast paced and moving dialogue the first part describes the journey from Liverpool Barlow girl to London city life and the second part describes her life in London as a cabaret singer during the blitz. The themes are timeless and the music classic. This show is charming and poignant, sassy and moving.
Duration: 70 minute show.

Well, only a few weeks away from the BLITZ hitting Cygnet in southern Tasmania...people are already digging out their gardens for those necessary bunkers...hold on! There is a bunker with your name on down at the Town Hall. The Bunker Babes will be serving cocktails and the the entertainment is second only to Broadway .....Cygnet look out!!
With Show tunes from Cabaret, Chicago, Oklahoma, old favourites; Someone to Watch over me, PS I love you. SiSi is putting together a wow of a show.
Interspersed with great song and dance routines is the story of Joanne Arnold, Liverpudlian, mother and cabaret singer who finds herself in London during the BLITZ. The show with comedy, physical and musical theatre traces her journey from despair to hope as it mirrors Englands similar journey through the war years.

one womans madness; part 1

November 9, 2011
The moment of madness came upon me and I scawled a story down, probably if I'm honest in half an hour. Then put it away.
My dear friend and playwright, GG Hemmings insisted that he read it, and loved it (especially after giving me some notes in which I could improve some of the writing).
However I still hid it, and even though GG consistently questioned me about the story, It was asleep.
But then time past and like Sleeping Beauty's sleep around the small story life changed.
A year and a half later, I was a slightly different woman and when chatting, mad mention of my little story, or maybe I should admit now, my one woman show.
The ears on which this mention fell, just happened to be a rocket of a woman, the type of person to whom the world is just a piece of cake waiting for a big bite. She has less fear than a Mad Viking on a murderous rampage.
She heard the play and decided that it should be put on.
Soon.
Gulp.
So now in approximately 5 weeks I shall be singing and dancing on stage infront of about 120 people, baring my soul and my story.
I'm not scared. Oh no siree...especially when I don't think about it at all, and just take one day at a time, one step at a time.
SiSi putting together an EP

December 22, 2010
Busy in the Cray Point Studios down in the isolated beachy south of Tasmania, SiSi has been a-mixing and a-cooking up of a musical storm.
Using her skilled musicianship, she plays all instruments (excepting on "Ian's Song", when Guitar Guru, Lester McCloed steps in), she sings all harmonies and she's written all tunes!!!
With views of Bruny Island to soften the excitement and add respite to the frenetic energy steaming up the studio, SiSi brings her melodic stories of love and life into a harmonic and catchy offering.
She uses humour, poignancy and gentle wisdom as she waxes on her own philosophys that have been part of her journey.
Her background in musical theatre can be seen clearly as can her European (specifically Liverpudlian) roots.
Put in on the stereo and crank it up!
